Hotel Obermair in , Austria
So what's it like?
Starting out life as a simple guesthouse, the Garni Hotel Obermair has transformed into a great little hotel, that keeps getting better every year.
Through hard work, determination and many satisfied customers, the Obermair family have really done some amazing things with this place. Over the years this has allowed them to build an annexe, add an indoor pool and a nice little wellness area. They've also recently had a full refurb in the main hotel and it looks good. But, through all the changes, the Obermair hasn't lost its heart or its roots - friendly service with a personal feel and lots of smiles.
As mentioned, the Obermair has an annexe and this is where the majority of our rooms are. The annexe rooms are a little bit dated and this is reflected in the price - a refresh is in the pipeline, but until then keep enjoying the fantastic savings. If you're planning on spending a bit more time in your room then you may want to choose a room in the main building. The bedrooms in there have had that TLC applied leaving elegant rooms with classic Alpine style and a modern finish.
The heated indoor pool is a decent size - big enough for a few early morning laps, or a splash about. The pool is located in the main building, along with the modern spa facilities. In the wellness area you've got a Finnish sauna, herbal sauna and a steam bath, along with rain showers and a solarium, and apart from the solarium, it's all free to use.
Bed and breakfast is the standard at the Obermair - and the breakfast by all accounts is very tasty. You'll get a range of hot and cold dishes from the buffet and you can help yourself to as much as you like. If you want, you can also upgrade to half board - dinner is taken over at the Hotel Kramerwirt - if not, you've got Mayrhofen as your dining oyster and there's loads of choice.
Location wise you're just on the edge of town. The nearest bars and restaurants are just a couple of minutes away and the Penken gondola is only about a twelve minute walk. Also if you plan on getting out and about a little further into the Ziller Valley the bus and train stations are both close by too.

Austrian twin beds
Austrian twin beds are very common in Central Europe. They’re simply one large bed frame containing two single mattresses, both with separate duvets and linen sets, that cannot be separated. Separate twin beds are less common and can often be head to head beds, rather than side by side, if they are available.
