So what's it like?
Found on the outskirts of Salzkammergut the village Fuschl lies in the heart of a nature reserve and is famed for its turquoise blue colored waters. The lake really is the star of the show with the water being so pure that it serves as a reservoir for the surrounding province. You can choose to take a swim in the sparkling, clear waters or just sit on the lakeside promenade and watch the world go by. If you feel like getting active then rowing across the lake or cycling along the cool, pine-clad shore are popular activities. At night the friendly bars and cafés offer a warm welcome, and you can even sample the local caught fish at one of the many restaurants
Available from £200 (return)
The Salzkammergut Card gives reductions of up to 30% on local bus fares, entrances to attractions, cable cars, ferry rides, leisure facilities and much more. Available locally for approximately €5 for adults. Children up to and including 15 years will receive discounts automatically when accompanied by an adult with the card.
There is a bus service to Salzburg, Bad Ischl and St. Gilgen. Boat trips on the lake ferries can be taken at the neighbouring resorts of St. Wolfgang and St. Gilgen.
