Walking
The Ticino region has an array of walking opportunities with over 3600 km of hiking trails, from lakeside strolls along palm tree decked promenades to more hilly walks through lush countryside. Lugano and Locarno both have excellent transport networks, which includes cable cars, trains and lake cruisers to get you to the best places to walk. For a great view of Lake Lugano and over to Lake Como, try walking from Monte Bre to Monte Broglia. From Locarno take the Centovalli line into an area of outstanding natural beauty, there are walks through shady forests and traditional picturesque villages.
