Activities
There is so much to do in the Lake Lucerne region, both on and off shore. Aside from the world famous Lucerne sights like the Chaple Bridge, there are also a number of smaller attractions worth looking out for. Visit the Lion monument, a carving of a dying lion to commemorate the hundreds of Swiss Guards massacred in the French Revolution during storming of the Tuileries in 1792. This is to be found in park near Lowenplatz. Lake Lucerne or 'Vierwaldstattersee' as it's known locally, offers a world of possibilities for visitors. There are 20 boats including restored paddle wheel steamers like the Stadt Luzern, tracing a myriad of trails across the lake to scenic and historical sites and the towns dotted around the lake. Lunch and evening cruises are available and are a great way to admire the scenery.
