Lake Lucerne Heights & Sights Resort Guide

Resort Information

Our Heights and Sights package is designed to help you get the best out of this fascinating area, from the snow capped peaks to the calming beauty of the lake. Below is a suggested itinerary, however the flexibility of the Swiss transport system means you are free to decide which days suit you best.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 (Sat) - UK to Zurich
Arrival at Zurich airport and transfer to your hotel in Lucerne.

Day 2 (Sun) - Free day
A day to explore your surroundings. Guided tours of Lucerne are available through the Tourist Office, or you can stroll around the medieval centre at your own pace. There are so many sights to see, from churches to narrow cobbled streets, the arsenal and of course, the symbol of Lucerne, the Chapel Bridge built in 1333 with its octagonal water tower.

Day 3 (Mon) - Mt. Rigi
The journey alone will be an enjoyable experience for this trip to the "Queen" mountain.

Day 4 (Tues) - Free day
Spend a leisurely day visiting one of Lucerne's fantastic museums and galleries. Take your pick from the Picasso Museum, Swiss Transport Museum, Glacier Garden, the Rosengart Collection, History Museum and many more. Alternatively rest by the lakeside and enjoy some local specialities in one of the many restaurants and bars - the choice is yours!

Day 5 (Wed) - Pilatus
A visit to Lake Lucerne would not be complete without taking the round trip to Mt. Pilatus.

Day 6 (Thurs) - Free day
Perhaps a good opportunity to try the Weg der Schweiz or "Swiss Path",  around the southern most part of the lake or use your Swiss Card to visit nearby Engelberg and Mt. Titlis.

Day 7 (Fri) - Berne
Visit Switzerland's capital, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, just over an hour away by train.

Day 8 (Sat) - Zurich to UK
Train transfer to Zurich for your flight home.

Activities

There is so much to do in the Lake Lucerne region, both on and off shore. Aside from the world famous Lucerne sights like the Chaple Bridge, there are also a number of smaller attractions worth looking out for. Visit the Lion monument, a carving of a dying lion to commemorate the hundreds of Swiss Guards massacred in the French Revolution during storming of the Tuileries in 1792. This is to be found in park near Lowenplatz.

Lake Lucerne or 'Vierwaldstattersee' as it's known locally, offers a world of possibilities for visitors. There are 20 boats including restored paddle wheel steamers like the Stadt Luzern, tracing a myriad of trails across the lake to scenic and historical sites and the towns dotted around the lake. Lunch and evening cruises are available and are a great way to admire the scenery.
