Frigiliana is a hilltop whitewashed village of moorish houses with iron balconies and cascading flowers, just 6km or 10 minutes' bus ride from the town of Nerja and the beach.
Nerja is a picture perfect town on Spain's southern coast, where the cliffs lead down to the sparkling water of the Mediterranean Sea. In many coves there are some excellent beaches, some deserted and some lively. The whitewashed buildings add to the character and the charm of the area, which offers a huge choice of activities. Our opinion
• A pretty spot on the coast with a different style to many of its famous neighbours • Full of original character with cobbled streets and cliff side paths • Perched on a cliff above an excellent choice of beaches • The centrepiece is a palm tree-lined promenade called 'El Balcon de Europa' which offers lovely views of the coast • A visit to the famous 'cuevas de Nerja' (caves) is a must • Explore the beaches, swimming in the warm water and enjoying a delicious paella lunch
