Reflected in the still waters of the gorgeous lake are the imposing peaks of the Julian Alps which flank the peaceful village and conjure up some truly fantastic views. Bohinj itself is a scattering of small hamlets with hotels and houses dispersed along the water's densely wooded southern shores. A unique and rustic ambience emanates through the narrow roads to the tranquil foothills, making Bohinj the perfect setting to completely relax and recuperate.

Take the cable car to view the peaks on the southern side of Lake Bohinj. Bus service to Lake Bled runs hourly.
Strollers
A gentle four hour circular walk will take you around this most tranquil and idyllic of lakes. Lakeside walkers can also meander towards the pretty waterfall at the foot of the lake.
Ramblers
Alternatively the mountainous northern side of the lake is suitable for those who wish for more strenuous walks, with views across the valley rewarding all enthusiastic walkers.
Hikers
The Pokljuka Plateau is one of the highlights of the walking in this area or, for those more adventurous, why not try the two day hike to the top of Slovenia's highest mountain, Triglav (advisable only from Jul - Sep).
