Zakopane, in the heart of the Tatra Mountains (in southern Poland) occupies a stunning alpine setting and is home to the hospitable Highland Folk who have preserved the traditions and folklore customs of the area for generations. The town itself is bustling with activity in high season, with local markets selling Polish crafts and a main street lined with inviting shops and cafés. Low season is quieter. Around the town you will see the unique architecture of the region with beautiful wooden houses and churches. After a day out walking in the beautiful National Park you can experience a traditional folk evening at the Czarci Jar restaurant, with Polish music and hearty cuisine!
