Summer Festivals 2007
Through the year there are many festivals and events on the island. Here are a few you might enjoy:
| 1st - 30th Jun | Atlantic Festivals - throughout June, concerts, street entertainment and weekend firework displays over Funchal.
Madeira Classic Car Ralley - 27th-30th June | | 1st Jul | Madeira Day - a festival with flowers, decorations and a cannon salute to celebrate Zarco's discovery of the island | | 2nd-4th Aug | Madeira Rally - island car rally attracting famous drivers from all over the world. | | 14-15th Aug | The Festival of our Lady of Monte - thousands of islanders flock to kiss the feet of their patron saint, often climbing the 70 steps to the Monte church on their knees. | | 31st Aug-2nd Sept | Madeira Wine Festival - celebrating the grape harvest with singing, dancing and festivities, sometimes including pressing grapes the old-fashined way, with your feet! |
