The pretty town of Riva del Garda is a busy resort that demonstrates its historic past with a 12th Century fortress flanked by moats and town walls dating from Roman times. Due to its position at the northernmost point of the lake and the subsequently reliable winds, Riva is a leading watersports resort and is one of the venues on the windsurfing World Cup circuit. Despite the fact that it has become the most popular holiday venue on Lake Garda the town still retains much of its old world charm, with plenty of bars and traditional pavement cafés for relaxation.
Our opinion
· Located on the northern tip of the lake, Riva is one of the lake's leading resorts · The bustling nightlife is centred on Riva's main harbour square · The flat, lakeside walk to Torbole takes in some breathtaking scenery
Short breaks
If you want to get away from it all, but can't spare seven days, we have three and four night short breaks available in Riva at the Hotel Astoria Park, Grand Hotel Liberty, Hotel Riva and the Hotel Mirage.
