An elegant resort with a pretty, leafy lake front promenade and a good selection of boutiques and cafés, Gardone Riviera, a community of nine villages, lying at the northern end of the Gulf of Salò on the western shore of Lake Garda. A short walk from the village is the intriguing 'Il Vittoriale', former home to the author Gabriele D'Annunzio and stomping ground of 'Il Duce', Benito Mussolini, himself.

Getting about
Gardone Riviera is an excellent base for exploring the lake. Ferries and fast hydrofoils link the numerous lakeside towns and operate throughout the day.
