This city of music is a delightful place to visit. Mozart's birthplace, historically known as the 'Rome of the North' and set to the 'Sound of Music'. Located on the banks of the Salzach river, Salzburg is a World Cultural Heritage site and has a blend of culture, history and different architectural style. Attractions are plentiful and all are within easy walking distance of the city centre. For Summer 2012 'Sound of Music' the Musical is truly alive in its home city! The Von Trapp family once again enjoying the showing of their fascinating storey at the Salzburger Landestheatre tickets are available for Sunday 03rd June and Friday 08th June. The performance is in German but this wont stop you from having a fun evening, price £35.

Salzburg is the perfect city to explore by foot as most of the sights can be found in and around the charming old town. Hiring a bike is a great way to explore a little further afield. Salzburg is also served by a very reliable public transport system.
