Wooded shores and calm waters give Millstatt a relaxing atmosphere. The village nestles in a curve of the shoreline and rises up the hillside. The village centres around the 11th century Benedictine Monastery, with a small square with shops and cafés. Down at the lakeside, board the ferry service to tour the lake and the other small villages dotted along the north shore. As you leave the village climb on up into the mountains and find the reason why so many people choose to visit Millstatt - miles and miles of walking routes with delightful views, charming mountain huts and the Nockalm National Park.
