Resort Information
The picture postcard resort of Ellmau is the ideal place for first time visitors to the Tirol region of Austria, with a picturesque setting, sheltered by the awesome Wilder Kaiser mountains. The charming village centre has attractive shops and cafés to stroll around and in the summer months there are regular evening festivals, when the centre comes alive with traditional music, craft and food stalls. There are great transport links around the area as well as plenty of walking opportunities. Getting About
There is a regular bus service to St. Johann and Söll, whilst the FREE "Kaiserjet" shuttle service connects Ellmau with the neighbouring villages of Scheffau, Going, Söll and Itter.
Strollers
It is a pleasant 1 hour walk along the valley between Ellmau and Scheffau, stroll around Ellmau's golf course or walk to the village of Going.
Ramblers
There is a superb selection of walks starting from Ellmau. Either use the lifts to gain ground on the Bergwelt or venture on to the more rugged terrain of the Wilder Kaiser. You can buy a 7 day Bergwelt walkers' pass locally giving you unlimited use of the lifts for approx. £28 (£40 including pool).
Hikers

Twin Centre Suggestion
Why not try a twin centre combining 7 nights at the lovely Hotel Alpenhof in Ellmau with a stay in the Austrian lakes at the Hotel Post in St. Gilgen. Alternatively opt for a city add-on of 3 or 4 nights in Vienna or Salzburg.
